13-07-2010 www.dannychoo.com Views 47 Mirai Gaia - the web application used by companies like Good Smile Company, Cospa and Japan Times to manage their online strategy. Mirai Fusion - Anime production/marketing unit working on the title Chinka. Mirai Creations - the figurine, doll and game production unit.To let you know that I'm going into product manufacturing and as usual would love you to be a part of it. All my destinations in life have been based on my passions. The first destination was to get to Japan. The second destination was to set up my own company and now the third one is to manufacture figures, dolls and games - all stuff which I love and will probably do so until the day I die.Tis a huge challenge for me. While I have the ability and knowledge to mass produce leather goods, I'd rather challenge myself with something I'm very unfamiliar with - mass producing figures and dolls. But I'm not alone - I have comrades such as Big Boss Aki (GSC CEO) who spends time guiding me - but not holding my hand as he (and I) wants me to find out how to do things on my own.Am currently looking for 3D designers who are a dab hand at tools like Maya, Lightwave or 3D Max or any other tool which can produce data that can be fed through a 3D printer. I'm initially interested in working with you freelance and then depending on how things go possibly a full time position. And just as with previous job openings introduced, there is some homework involved. The task is to make a doll head and body for Mirai-chan. Have a look in the Dollfie category and so searches online for Dollfie, Obitsu or BDJ to help you with the task. Figure.fm also has a lot of reference material for you too. Points to remember about designing a doll head is that it usually does not look like its anime counterpart at all and is only an image of what they would look like. Cheeks are a slightly puffy to produce a kawaii looking face. The left and right side of the face is never symmetrical - as with a human, both sides of the face are slightly different. This is why doll heads are conventionally sculpted by hand. The eyes should be holes with eyeballs inside the head as separate objects - give them a glassy look property. No need to model any hair. The body should look smexy like a dollfie body but must not be a copy of one! I'll leave the design of the joints to you but we have some designs in mind which we would implement into your design after hiring. The type of quality I'm looking for is similar to what you see with the School Mate girls - videos of them in action below. Once you are done with the modeling, skin the model and send me the rendered images to [jobs at dannychoo dot com]. You need not send the actual data. You don't need to send your resume either. Ever since I started by days at Amazon as a hiring manager, I've always ignored the "previous education" part on a resume as I believe that a hiring decision should be based upon your current abilities and not what a one studied in the past. I've seen so many bad hiring decisions at Amazon made just upon somebody having an MBA or PHD which in the end lead to firing decisions. Its a responsibility of the hiring manager to ensure that expectations are set at the beginning and one of the ways to ensure this is through tests. Its unfair to the candidate to hire them and expect something that they don't have the ability to deliver - only to let them go after the probation period. In previous job posts, many comments mentioned that dannychoo.com was the wrong place to look - only to be proved so wrong! I know that there are many talented folks who read DC and the latest talent we found was a developer position for Rinkya. The person is having their working visa applied for while they prepare for a new life in Tokyo. We've also previously found DC readers who are now working with my comrades Good Smile Company, AmiAmi and J-List.I also saw some folks complaining that they had to do something with no guarantee of a job! Folks with an opinion like this would probably have a tough time getting a job anywhere as they presume that they should be hired based on a resume and an interview without having to lift a finger to demonstrate their abilities. Many moons ago back in the UK, I was asked if I would drop everything and head to Tokyo for a week of interviews and tests with *absolutely no guarantee* of getting the job. It involved me taking unpaid leave from my current job at the time too. My answer - "hell yes!" The result of that week of interviews and tests was a one way ticket to Japan. Many corporate companies also give out homework to see if candidates are capable of what they say they can do. I know folks who went for interviews at Google - they went through many rounds of tests (lasting months!) including giving ideas on what features they recommend Google to launch - I was asked the same at Amazon too without any guarantee that Amazon would not use my ideas. The message here is to remain humble but confident about ones ability - going round thinking that people owe you a job is probably not such a good career move. Nobody owes you anything. The only person who owes you is yourself. You owe it to yourself to make the most of the precious gift of life that you are given by going out and doing something instead of waiting for life to be served up to you on a plate. Nothing always leads to nothing. Something always leads to something. Either go with the flow or change the flow. And with that, I look forward to working with you to building something big! I'll be looking at submissions as soon I receive them and will be following up with video conversations on Skype. Will wait a couple of weeks before deciding on the candidate/s that will end up working with us.
