I Hate Being an Asian Girl

Before you make any comments on this thread and this article, I'd like to say that I have a very strong opinion on this issue. Asians get stereotyped. And whether you think it's true or not, it's wrong. If I said that "All Blacks are loud and that's a bad thing; and all Hispanics are poor and that's horrendous," I would get called a racist faster than Danny gets another business proposal. The thread had a number of members and admissions officers defending the stereotype, saying that it's true. However, that doesn't make it right. Especially when they group all of us under one category: shy, math/science oriented, and hard-working, all of which were implied to be BAD things. I know the thread is old, but it's one of the most popular college threads out there with nearly 50 pages.Just because I made it to MIT doesn't mean that I don't support the causes of others. It pisses me off because if I tried defending this issue in school, everyone would be against me because I made it to MIT. A lot of people at school have given me the cold shoulder since my acceptance on Monday. A lot of them are jealous. I hate it. When I told someone "Congratulations on making it to ___ college," my friend got offended and thought that I was mocking her when I really felt happy for her. I get ignored each time I try to talk to my classmates who got denied early action. It's sad, because I believe that there is a stereotype involved in it. In the past, all of the guys who made it to the Ivy Leagues became really popular while the girls who made it were hated on by many people in their class. It was obvious that a lot of the guys who thought that they were superior to those girls now felt inferior when, in reality, they are equals. This is messed up. I can't stand being looked at as a brainless potential sex tool. I want to be taken seriously so bad, but nothing is working. Chances are, I'll be a hypocrite and gain a ton of hits next time by posting tons of pics of myself. Yay for being a tool.
