Snap of a Yukata taken at my local shopping arcade. A Yukata is a traditional Japanese garment and when it gets hot in the summer you will see many girls (and boys) out n about town wearing these. Its a casual form of Kimono and is commonly worn after bathing at traditional inns and hot springs which you may have seen in my Onsen article. The kanji for Yukata is [浴衣[ゆかた]] which means bathing garment.
A place where you will see a load of Yukata being worn is at summer festivals. When I first visited Japan, I was surprised to see folks wearing Yukata on the trains which is perfectly normal here.
I didn't realize how cheap they were - this one is just 1,575 yen - could be an ideal gift for family, GF or your sexy/cute school teacher.
So a few things to talk about today. Have you tried on any Japanese garments before? I have a Samue which I've been wearing at home but will be wearing it out n about after seeing Max Watanabe out n about town in his.
Another thing I wanted to ask is what sort of traditional garments exist (if any) in your region, what occasion is it worn and do you own any?
The last thing I wanted to ask is the most crucial question of all - you have just come home bruised, battered, hungry and thirsty after battling 2 rabid baboons, 3 two trunked elephants, 9 giant red ants and 27 horned rabbits - your only weapon was one wet dog. What would you most want to be greeted with?
GF/BF/Wife/Husband dressed as a maid (for example)
GF/BF/Wife/Husband dressed as a miko
