What is Ingot?

Ingot is metal that is cast into a specific shape for further processing. They can be a pure metal or metal alloy, that is cast into a block or bar.  MetalTek uses tight alloy control and argon oxygen decarburization (AOD) at multiple facilities to supply dozens of ferrous grades of high-integrity ingots to foundries worldwide.

Ingot services provided by MetalTek include:
  • Standard 15-pound ingots
  • Customer-specific shapes and sizes
  • Toll melting
Toll melting allows customers to turn scrap into chemically certified, usable products.  This helps to reduce raw material costs and promote sustainability. You can melt solids, turnings, powder, shavings, grindings, or scrap metals via toll melting.

MetalTek’s Sandusky International Division has ingot capacities of up to 20,000 lbs. (9,072 kg) per heat for a 15-pound ingot.  Sandusky is a leading global supplier of chemically certified ingot and toll melting services.

MetalTek can melt and refine customer-supplied metal to meet strict specifications, or melt and return metal with a known chemistry and low carbon.
